Women of Castellón

A momentous development began thirty thousand years ago, and it led to a new form of symbolic expression. Our ancestors began to paint. Joseph Campbell describes it evocatively:

New technologies, mythological origientations, and vivid art forms now break upon the scene, and we are at the opening of a new age. The bow and arrow have appeared, the hunting dog, and an art of rock painting.

I feel for this era. Like the Cambrian Explosion, and of course like our own time, it is the staggering, explosive dividend following (and resulting from) a long period of nearly imperceptible cumulative and iterative change.

This composition, "Women of Castellón", is my way of honoring that profound and ancient revolution.
