The masmoudi (also masmuudii or masmoodi) is a traditional 8/4 rhythm. It's sometimes called masmoudi kebir, or "big masmoudi," because it's an elaboration of the beledi (a.k.a. "little masmoudi") rhythm.
This common Turkish form is sometimes called the "warring masmoudi" because of its aggressive cadence, which is supposed to sound like an arguing couple. It goes like this:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 +
