Fellahin

The fellahin (or falahi or falaahii) is a fast, hypnotic 2/4 rhythm. It's a two-beat variant of maqsoum that originates from the traditional dance and music of Egyptian farmers. "Falaah" means 'peasant' or 'country folk.'
