I adapted this fast 19/8 jazz rhythm from a fantastic Don Ellis Orchestra recording known as "33 222 1 222" (Live at Monterey, 1967). This groundbreaking experiment stretches time signatures beyond what I ever could have imagined. I have named this dumbek adaptation of the rhythm ellis in his honor.

When I've played this rhythm for people, several have commented that it sounds to them like an African rhythm. It's an interesting idea; I wonder if the meme traversed from traditional African music, through to American jazz, and now (full-circle in a sense) to dumbek.
