[edit] Red Light District
We returned to camp, and spent the rest of the day there--the heat and sun were oppressive. Took a look around RLD. The main stage area was somewhat active.
RLDers were still building their camps. I loaned them my tools to help.
Night came, and it was warm. Easily 30° warmer than usual. Explored the playa with Nadia, Carla, Blue, Madison, Sarah and Tony. We went to the Steampunk Tree House and Crude Awakenings, the huge worshipped oil derrick that I took no photos of! Checked out the Opulent Temple, and was surprised how bad the music was. Then on to Thunderdome. More on that later. The Temple of Forgiveness, out past the Man, was magnificent this year.
Blue and I really connected as we walked the playa together. We talked for a long time, mostly about music, and trailed after the rest.
Got back to camp eventually and crashed. I woke up around 3am to piss and encountered people awake, wanting to go back out to a club camp. So we did, but not for long.
[edit] Tuesday
Jonah and passengers finally made it to the playa. Fashionably late, he's greeted like a rock star at the RLD stage. Pretty funny. Turns out a broken part worth $50 kept them from the playa for days. The cost rose to four figures after towing, parts and labor. That's got to be damn frustrating. Anyway, this was the first I'd seen of him since he left for Thailand a while back. He's changed in a way I can't quite explain. It's a good change.
Kimberly is back too! She greeted me warmly. Travel also seems to have changed her. She seems to have a richer character. Travel brings out the beauty in people.
BronChop made it in late night. They stayed up very late constructing their structure in flood lights.
